AVI Video Can't Post

I want to bring into my Avio an animation I created that has a solid blue background and was saved as an AVI file. I then would like to use the Blue Box feature to wipe out the back ground and have the animation play over the top of the video running in the back ground. How do I get the AVI into the Avio and then wipe out the background?? Can this even be done??

Hi,
Look into USB Link, that might work for your needs, if not record out of PC to tape and into the avio.

Re: AVI Video [In reply to] Can't Post

Scott,
I have tried this a number of ways via my Pinnacle based editing systems. The best method was going back to the AVIO via SVHS...although this gave the best results the AVIO gave the poorest response to my ture blue bkgnd....also tried it w/a light green background....in both instances...the AVIO quality was bad on playback. I did the same thing in the Pinnacle and the colors keyed out w/o any problem...Of course mixing a true broadcast titler (TitleDEKO) with the AVIO would be the best of both worlds...but I fear MS won't ever let that happen. Great thought...wish it would have worked...but it won't.

Re: AVI Video [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi. I've had success doing the following. I have Pinnacle Studio Ver 8 on my PC. I have taken footage from my Canon XL-1 and sent it to the PC via firewire. I added some backrounds from Title Deko and included some transitions and music. I then sent it back out via fire wire to my XL-1. Since I don't have a DV AVIO unit I sent it to the AVIO via SVHS. The results were very good.
It really makes me think twice about spending $695 for the DV upgrade and $200 for the USB to PC. I thought the results looked pretty good!

I wonder if it would improve the quality to go back into the Avio via firewire???

I'm sure that if your using an O-Scope and/or a pro-monitor, you can SEE the quaility difference. However, to the naked eye it looks excellent on a regular TV. The decision to upgrade or not is based on who the end user is. Since my present clients are not "broadcast focused" the SVHS input to the AVIO will do for now. Of course when this changes I'll need to upgrade my recording standards.
