Anyone's Classic Casa 'worn out'? Can't Post

Hi all,
The school where I help teach editing has three classic casa's and about 10 drives all together. Recently I've noticed that there has been a majoy increase in the number of red and green errors. I get the feeling that the casa's or maybe the drives are getting towards the end of their life however I was wondering if this has occurred for anyone else?
These casas get a lot of action and students stretch their capabilities quite a lot however I was not aware that they could get 'worn out'. Bit confused as to what might actually be occurring.
The casas are about 5 to 7 years old.
Thanks

Patrick,
Are the drives as old as the boxes themselves? Most drives have a true shelf life of about 3 years...under normal use...it may be time to start replacing the drives...or at least obtain a new one...load it up and then see if you still get the errors.
I have a 6 year old classic and it still is as strong as a rock...and I replaced the original drive(Seagate 9GB)...about 3 years ago...wasn't getting the errors...one day it just gave up and passed on.
Good Luck

Patrick -
Another thing to add to your list of possible hard drive failures or death is if it starts saying -
"Buffer Zone Failure"
It will also refuse to allow you to record in after that bar appears.
This happened to my 60 GB Drive that was put to good use for about 2 solid years.
And, if you decide to replace your drives with bigger ones, make sure and call Macrosystem to get the 50+ Software if you don't have it. This will allow for up to a 60 GB hard drive in your system.

Hi Patrick,
How long would it be since you did an installation of operating system software on each of the drives? If it has been some time I would suggest that when you can afford to delete all of the data on the drives to do a full install on each of the drives, this may well get the drives working reliably again.
All the best,
Chris.
