Avios dealing with anamophic lens and 16:9	Can't Post

Alright I am using a DVX-100 to shoot a doc. I will be editing on an Avio with smartedit 3.x. I would like to shoot in 16:9. The best way to do this with the DVX-100 is to use an anamorphic lens converter. How is the cassie going to deal with this? I will probably be showing this on 4:3 at somepoint to, but really want it in 16:9. Is the cassie going to make me lose any quality or area with this?

With Smart Edit 2.4 (OS) and higher you have the ability to edit in 16x9 Anamorphic mode. This is done in the Project Settings screen:

The Casablanca 16:9 mode does not create a letterboxed effect within the Casablanca. It will only output the anamorphic 16:9 video (which will look distorted on a non-16:9 monitor).

When working with 16:9, using a VGA monitor in addition to a video monitor with 16:9 is highly recommended so that the video and the editing interface can both be viewed without distortion.

Switching your Casablanca project to 16:9 mode in Project Settings changes the way the system renders fonts and certain shapes (such as circles), so that they will have the correct proportions when the video is displayed with the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Okay I have smartedit 3.3, You say there is an option under project settings to change to 16:9. I am not seeing it. The only thing I can find is the Letterbox effect which is just putting bars over my footage. Am I missing the 16:9 option or does 3.3 not have it?

Yes, under Project Settings you should see a choice 'Format' whose default is 4:3, click in there and you can choose between
4:3
4:3P
16X9
16x9P
