Big problem for me regarding DVD-R and DVD+R Can't Post

I currently use the Macrosystems Pioneer A04 Burner for my DVD burning. Well, low and behold, I finally came across a client that has just purchased a new DVD Player (an RCA), and it won't play mine. I read about the model number on the Internet and it says all new RCA DVD Players will only play the +R's and not the -R's. This is terrible!
Is it the Pioneer Burner itself or the Arabesk software that is keeping it from burning +R's? Also, what product do I need if I want to burn DVD+R's as well?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Kathy

Not only is it stupid, but if RCA continues this practice with its DVD players, it will be the death of their product line. There's no reason it can't play both, unless they specifically engineer it to read the DVD's manufacturing data and specifically tell it NOT to play the DVD-R.
I would tell the client to return their DVD player as defective. The vast majority of DVD writers are DVD-R and all the duplication towers burn DVD-R, NOT DVD+R. Yours is not the only one that the client will have trouble with.

DVD+R is a different format than the industry at large has agreed upon using. You would need to buy a specific recorder to record DVD+R disks.
The software shouldn't care. Arabesk cannot, at this time, take advantage of the 4x burning speed of the newer DVD-R recorders. Methinks that the Casablanca 2 line of processors and the data bus they created is just too slow to handle anything but 1x writing, but eventually, either it will, or you'll want to use a PC to do this stuff.

Bob - Thanks for... [In reply to] Can't Post

Bob,
Thanks for responding. It is definitely engineered for +R's as I took several DVD's over to their house to try. Plus, if you go to www.rca.com and on the left side, click DVD+R Alliance, you can read all about it in great detail.
I burn on Verbatim and make demos on the TapeGuy's Generic DVD-R Version for $1.05. This has been my first pooper! But, hey at least its not my fault. It's RCA's and if they keep this up, I hope they go down!!!

Anytime, Kathy.
BTW, if this is a regular, good client, why not just buy him a decent DVD player? That would give you a whole bunch of extra brownie points!
