I own both an Avio (with DV certificate, not yet installed) and an Adobe Premiere 6.0 on a laptop. I find that I use both, depending on the task to be performed. The Avio is great for quick, simple stuff; however, the Premiere is nice for more complicated items. If the project is big, I have to use the Avio as I don't have enough space on my laptop (10 gig free) to capture much video. I generally do the main editing in the Avio and then imput the semi-finished production to the laptop for "special" goodies. The Premiere will do everything the Avio will do and MUCH more. The laptop has crashed a couple of times during editing, but nothing serious. My Avio also locks up occasionaly, but recovers nicely without data loss. If you go with a PC solution, make SURE you buy a system that is designed for video editing, including a firewire card. If buying from a dealer, ask for a test drive and connect your camera to the machine for a first hand look at capture, editing, and playback. I've heard the following for a minimum for Premiere - 800 Mhz P3, 128 Meg Ram, 40 gig 7200 RPM drive, 32 meg video card. Richard
