Color and Brightness Levels	Can't Post

Sorry to sound like such a beginner, but I've been doing analog editting for a while now (getting ready to make the Cassie leap) and I've never known how to use the color bars, etc. to set my monitors to make sure I'm seeing color levels, brightness, hue, contrast, etc. at "standard" levels (roughly how everyone else will see the finished product).
I usually wind up fooling around with the knobs until I think I've got everything about in "the middle".
I'd sure appreciate any advice.

Mike,
Any video engineer will tell you the only "real" way to do this is with a signal generator, a waveform monitor, and a vectorscope.
However, for those of us whose studios can't support a couple grand in test equipment, see Hal's informative article on this site on Calibrating your NTSC Monitor.
