Firewire Option Can't Post

Anyone know of a less expensive way around the factory-installed firewire for a 060 Cassie? Just can't justify the price.
Thanks

Re: Firewire Option Can't Post

If you have a DV camera, you do not need to use firewire for input and output. You can use the S-Video in (and output) connections. In theory, the quality won't be as good as the firewire connection, BUT I question if the difference will even be noticed.

Re: Firewire Option [In reply to] Can't Post

I agree with that. if the source is good, Y/C picture transport will be fine. Loss of quality appears when you tape your video to any analog VCR ((S)VHS...). Firewire option is not worth the money. It's more important to have good original pictures: spent your money at good light and sound equipment, good lenses...
