I don't remember which is the wide or narrow, the 50 pin or the 68 pin but you need a 50 pin drive for the Cassie internal drive. I think this is the wide but not sure. I suspect that drive prices will continue to fall and they are also making larger drives that will work in the Cassie. I'm thinking about a 36 to 50 gig size that I've heard about but I'm not in any hurry. : Question: should the SCSI be a wide or narrow. I can get the narrow for $814 and the wide for $779. (Check out www.pricewatch.com) : : I made the mistake of buying my Cassie with the 18 gig drive. I could have bought it with the 4 gig and saved a lot of money. I needed a second drive for multiple projects and I bought a Seagate Barracude 50 pin UltraSCSI (Item Code ST118273N) from Ultra Peripherals (612-938-0815) for a total of $930.00 including shipping. I paid for it COD to get this price. It worked "right out of the box" with no jumpers to set. Just install it in the Cassie "sled" and slide it in. You'll have to get a sled from your Cassie dealer for about $50 and it includes simple installation instructions. Don't forget to install your software on the new drive. It was a piece of cake. Happy editing! : : : okay.....so it seems that as an "almost" new buyer of a Cassie you can save substantially if you buy your hard drive from somewhere else other than the Cassie dealer. I want at least an 18 gig. Please advise with current information as to what other hard drives out there are compatable with a Cassie..please be specific. How does that work?....just substitute the hard drive in the Cassie's tray? I understand the "pin connections" may not be the same but you can purchase adaptor kits and/or some "jumpers" need to be changed. I really don't know what all this entails. Is that a major change on the Cassie's internals? Once you change "Jumpers" I assume you can change back? What do you recommend?....THANKS
