Is it legal to copy DVDs? Can't Post

Is it legal to rent DVDs online and copy them with some of
those DVD burners I have seen people here talk about?
And if so has anyone used any of the rental sites listed on
this page? Do I have to give a credit card number or can I use
a check and have them bill me. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeffrey

It is never legal to copy any copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright holder. However, if you sincerely wish to do so, you may post your personal contact information (name, address, phone, SS#, etc.) here along with any titles you copy, and where in your home you store them, and we'll see if we can't get a little federal help on this one...

Not so, banned Bob. It is legal to copy personally owned dvds. The DCMA would like to argue against that tho.
