More info on Prestige	Can't Post

I acquired somemore inormation on the Prestige unit that might be of interest to this group:

A. The Prestige has quite a number of really cool features for the price. The cost will run about $3,500.00. The KRON is still
considered to be the "flagship" editor because it offers the SCSI interface for an external DVD/drive and offers MPEG2.
Actually, KRON users will benefit from the technology of Prestige and will be offered a board upgrade at some point in the future
which will increase the speed of their unit. Also, MSUS will be offering 2.0 software later this year which will allow you to
incorporate the software features of Prestige. Here are some of the features of Prestige:

- 80 GB HD
- NEW USER INTERFACE-SMART EDIT
-DV DIRECT MODE ONLY (W/THE ABILITY TO MIX ANALOG AND DV)
-AUDIO CD TRACK IMPORT VIA DVD DRIVE
- 2 DV INPUTS (FRONT AND BACK)
-FASTER RENDERING
-MIC INPUT

Whether this is all true or not is another thing. It came from the dealer who sold us the KRON!

Actually Terry, SMART EDIT is the software that will come with the Prestige. SMART EDIT is a totally new interface for the Prestige and will also be available, for purchase, for your KRON. It is NOT a free upgrade. I just heard yesterday through the grapevine that all AVIO's sold after 8/1/02 will also come w/ SMART EDIT. When the S/W is available it will be provided to any new AVIO owner. This is also true in the UK...
BTW the HD on the Presitge is removable. Means you can swap out the 80GB HD for a 120...if you wish.

Ed,
Does this mean the Prestige will recognise more than 80gb even though Kron and Avio can't at the moment? Will it require software to do this or be standard?
