Ed,
Make sure your Cassie is powered down, install your new hard drive in the Cassie, put your system software floppy in the floppy drive and power up the Cassie.
You'll have a couple of questions to answer: 1) language choice; and 2) "Install", "Update", "Change".
For #2 you'll need to select "Install" or "Change". "Install" does a standard installation of the system software. "Change" does the software installation but allocates about 5 minutes of video storage capacity to audio storage, yielding significantly more audio storage capacity. This option is useful if you are doing lots of audio additions and rendering during your edits, or need to store lots of audio samples.
Here's an additional tip. If you have other optional software to install along with the system software, here's a way to save some time. When the system software finishes installing you'll get a message "remove the floppy and the system will restart". Instead of removing the floppy and letting the system fully restart, just remove the floppy and briskly replace it with the addition floppy that you want to install and the install process will continue with the second floppy. You can do this with as many other floppies as you have. Will save you lots of install time.
