Gates Housing FX-1 Z-1 Can't Post

Does anybody own one of these yet?

What feedback can you give me?

Do you have the new Fathom Imaging lens or are you using the dome port with a wide angle lens?

If you are using a fathom lens how is it?

If you are using a wide angle lens behind dome port which one are you using?

Does anybody have info about other housings?

Are you interested in buying a full zoom underwater lens similar to the fathom imaging type lens?

Hope some of you have answers for some of these questions.

Gavin

Re: [somnambience] Gates Housing FX-1 Z-1 [In reply to] Can't Post

I've had mine for a couple of months - I've been using the standard port without any supplementary lenses, trying to determine what add ons will be required. Water conditions have been less than what I need to do my testing.
I do a lot of freediving, and the size and weight of the housing make it less than ideal for this purpose. This is also the first housing I've had with mechanical controls, and quite honestly, I prefer electronic controls. When housings become readily available for the HC 1, I'll probably sell the Gates housing. I may keep the FX1 for surface work.

I understand that the setup including Fathom port is heavy even in salt water and even 4 Gates floats (whatever they are) are not enough to make it neutrally buoyant. Floats are required to make it neutrally buoyant and Gates themselves reckon the ones I made for my VX2000 housing are the best solution.
