True High Definition Camcorder? Can't Post

From reading the literature, it would appear the camcorders such as all the Sony's throw out 3/4 of the resolution and color saturation before it even gets to the tape. Apparently, Sony and the others are using a codec that trashes the really good stuff. The Panasonic HVX200 looks as if it has avoided the "waste" problem by using memory cards and limiting recording time to 16 minutes per set of memory sticks. And the good stuff is not trashed. However, the Panasonic is a 5.5 pound camcorder making it a 30 pound unit when installed in a housing.

Has anyone seen a 1 1/2 to 2 pound high definition camcorder that maintains a great majority of the information that comes through the lens rather than trashing a majority of it or are we going to have to wait another year or so?
