Where to buy Light and Motion spares? Can't Post

Can anyone recommend a good place to mail-order Light and Motion spares, in particular light batteries, or should I just get them direct?

Ha! Good luck on that one. L&M has engineered all their stuff so it is all of proprietary design.

As to the light batteries, they're encased in a custom plastic housing. I have discovered, tho,
that they can be rebuilt by somebody like Batteries Plus for a reasonable cost. Considering, tho,
that out of the $130 cost for HID batteries, that the battery itself costs at least $90, I really
wonder if it's worth the trouble. I'd be much happier, nevertheless, if L&M would not modify the battery
connectors and just use the off-the-shelf component. They used to do this in the good ol' days.

And the lids fell off 2 of my 5 battery packs when they were new! A customer of mine had the same problem last week. Someone should teach those guys about the wonders of cyanoacrylate. I've tried but obviously it fell on deaf ears. Proprietary stuff is OK, as long as it works. In my experience (Stingray 2 and Sunray-S) L&M's quality is absolutely appalling, and the above-mentioned customer spent most of his trip between dives ripping his hair out trying to make his Mako function properly. His blue-water filter fell apart too, the same as mine did. Nevertheless their lamp heads are very nice and have never caused me any trouble, and I love the lowest power setting on the halogen for night dives, so I'll continue to use their Sunray-S lamps with my Gates housing. I might make some homemade reliable battery packs for them though. Will start a new thread on that.
