Circular Text Can't Post
I did a project for a school that I am sending out for duplication, because I dont have enough time in a day to send these through my printer, stuff the cases etc. They want the cover and DVD face on a template that they provide. No problem, I have most of it designed already. My problem is when it comes down to the copyright on the disc. I want it to follow the outside curve of the CD. On the Bravo Pro that I normally use, this is not a problem, sure thing has the circular text tool that works great, but I have no clue how to achieve this in photoshop. I have tried to use several tutorials I have found on the net, but every one of them come up with funny looking warped text. Any ideas?

Try this, I'm usin CS2
Selet the text tool
Click on the Warped Text Tool icon at the top (T with a curved line under it)
Select ARC
Adjust the amounts as needed.

I have a feeling that you are going after this look right here.



While the warp text can do it, another way is this:

1. Pick the Circle tool. Make it transpaprent if you want, but it really doesn't matter.
2. Draw the circle...hold the shift key to constrain the porportions
3. Pick the Text tool, and brint it right to the edge of your circle. You will see the bar shift to a bar with a squiggle underneath it.
4. Click on the path, and you will see the text curson now on top of the circle. Type your text.
5. Adjust as needed.

This give you a perfect circle path that isn't subject to some of the problems that warping does. (Not to down the other idea, just thought I would suggest this)

Don't fret if the text starts at an odd point on the path. You can just use the rotation tool to turn it to look right. You can apply all layer styles to this, just like regular text.

If they accept InDesign Files you can also drop your artwork into InDesign, make a circle and then use the TYPE ON A PATH tool.

This would be the way most graphic designers would do it and possibly even how the printer would prefer the file because InDesign does 4 color separation.

Actually, I would do it in Illustrator myself and place the photoshop work. Then I could generate whatever output I need and the type will be easy to adjust for template purposes.
