File handling compatiblity in CS Can't Post

I keep getting this compatibility message when I create new files.
Something about maxumim compatibilty.
So I checked the >Preferences>File Handling> and I am courious on one thing.....

How is one .psd file more compatible than another?
Is there a difference in the quality of the "more compatible" versions?
If not, why is there even the option?

Not that big a deal, but I am courious..

Thanks,
James

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it

I believe the compatibility reference is in regards to how compatible the .psd is towards older versions than CS (such as 6 or 7). Ultimately, yes, you would want to make sure it's as compatible as possible ... and no, the quality of the image wouldn't be affected at all.

All my best,
