Ideas for simple animation Can't Post

Hi everyone,

I would like to make a simple animation of a map in HDV. I know there must be a thousand different ways to do this, but maybe some of your ideas could make it quicker/easier for me. I am wanting to animate a map of Australia - one state "jumps out" (like an "emboss" function in PS) - then gradually enlarging this state only up to a local area map. I have PS and Vegas to play with. Any suggestions for how to make this easy and clean would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Kristian

Re: [Kristian] Ideas for simple animation [In reply to] Can't Post

1) Create two versions of the graphic. One with the country (flat) and another with the state embossed (raised).

2) I don't know an easy way to "animate" the emboss so you can simply try to cross dissolve the flat image into the embossed one

3) Now take the 2nd image (embossed image) and mask it out so ONLY the embossed state is visible. Save the file as PNG (retaining it's transparancy) and import into Vegas.

4) Place this graphic over top of the original grpahic (flat) keeping in mind you may have to use pan crop to get it to display at the correct size (Vegas tends to crop and enlarge graphics so it fills the video screen).

5) You can animate the top (embossed layer with transparancy) with track motion as if it's raising up off the map towards the camera. Be sure to keyframe in a subtle shadow to give the illusion of depth.
