Making template for printing on DVD Can't Post

Can anyone explain how to make a template for printing onto a DVD. I want a circle with the hole for the hub. I have my epson software but I want to create something in photoshop 7.

Much Obliged,
Ara

I don't recall the exact size of a DVD, but you just need to create a document of those dimensions (something like 5 1/4 inches I think) and make it 300dpi. Then create the image in Photoshop, save it, and pull it into the epson software as an image and it will fit exactly.

The epson software does just fine printing. I wouldn't really mess with doing it in photoshop unless you REALLY want to tinker with the printer settings in the print dialogue.

If you send me a PM with your email I'll attach one that I use and send it to you. It works great and then all I do is add the copyright stuff in the Epson software and print!

I use Photoshop 7 and this is what I did to create a template. I scanned in the face of a DVD. I used that as the base layer, placing all other elements in the correct position. I save this file as a psd and then click "save as" and save it as a bmp. Then I bring in the bmp file into my epson software, make some sizing adjustments and waalaa...I have a nice DVD label.

Hope this helps you.

If you have the ability to create a PDF, you can print to PDF from your Template design program (Expressit, etc) and then open that PDF in PS and lay your graphics down on that. Which is good because it allows to do bleed over to make sure the entire label gets covered (after all printers are not perfect..)
