Slightly OT PS text Can't Post

Does anyone here use InDesign? I made a logo with text in PS and want to import it into indesign, but everytime I do it looks terrible, very choppy. Any suggestions how to create text in PS for export?

You used to have to antialias any text. I am out of practice with indesign. Try a blur and a drop shadow if that doesn't work.

I'm not familiar with InDesign, bit in Pagemaker objects can look bad (but not actually be bad) depending on the graphics display preference chosen and even the amount of zoom at which you are looking at the document. Also make sure you're original is at high enough resolution to begin with. 300 dpi is usually good enough, some print shops require 600 dpi.

Colvin,

Another question. How do you use text in PS so that it prints correctly? I have used several different anti-aliasing setting and my text looks terrible when printed from PS. Very jagged edges and slightly blurry. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Good question. One is Capitals Regular. I am not sure what the others are. I am at work currently and don't have the file in front of me.

I have to go out to shoot some stock but I will look up the answer when I get back, if none of the proper experts chime in before then.

what resolution are you printing the text? If you are printing at 72dpi, the text will look pixelated and blurry.

Also, make sure not to rasterize the text layer or flatten it. keep it as a text layer.

What you are likely running into is that when you import a picture into InDesign, it puts in a low resolution image as a "place holder" or FPO. This is done so that the program can run quickly when you have many pages with images on them. To see the image in high resolution, you need to select the image with the black arrow tool, and then choose Object>Display Performance>High Quality Display. This should make the image nice and crisp unless your image is low resolution (i.e. 72 dpi).

One of the many the cool things about InDesign, is that you can select individual elements to see their high quality display, or you can have the whole document be viewed as high quality display.

I am a graphic designer by trade, and work in a print shop. Any questions anyone may have, please send them my way, and I can hopefully answer them.

Thank you,
