Soften edges around a layer	Can't Post

I have PS 7 and I would like to know if anyone has an answer to the following. How do you soften the edges of any layer? For instance I cut a bride/groom out using lasso and made it onto it's own layer. Also If I draw an elliptical marquee around a bride/groom I would like to soften those edges as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Even easier.... drag the entire layer and drop where you want it. Adjust the scale of the layer and then grab a 300 soft edge eraser and just erase off everything you don't want and all you'll be left with is what you want but with a nice soft feathered edge!

Hey Ara,

When I select the elliptical marquee tool, I set the feather to 20px then make my circle and then right click layer via copy and that gives me nice soft edges.

I use masking to fine tune my selections, then SELECT-FEATHER to soften the edges. You can see the feathered edge results better by clicking on the quick mask button again. How many pixels I feather is depends on the size of the image.
