What is adobe photoshop cs? Can't Post

I am still new to videography, and was wondering what kind of app this is.

How much does it cost?
How can it help me with editing video?
Is it just for still pictures or does it help you create things like motion?

$589 at B & H.

How can it help me with editing video?
It doesn't edit video but can be used to touch up photos or make titles that can be imported into video. PHOTOshop is a very powerful photo editing tool. I find it very helpful but also very challenging to learn. One recent projet was a high school hockey video. A bit of touch up (blemishes, etc) makes the players look pretty presentable.

It is one of those programs that will do a lot more than I will ever need. In fact, I use Photoshop 7.0 and have not found a need to upgrade.

See above.

It's a professional level digital imaging software by Adobe. http://www.adobe.com/.../photoshop/main.html

Photoshop is the "industry standard" for paint and image manipulation software. But even if you don't buy Photoshop, you need a program of this type for video...to make fancy titles, to take still frames from video and manipulate and change them, to retouch still photos you've scanned in, to create graphics for tape and DVD labels, flyers, brochures, and all sorts of things.

Other programs like Photoshop include JASC Paint Shop Pro, Painter, and Corel Photo-Paint.

Hal has an article on Photoshop for video in the Free Library.

The ultimate benefit of Photoshop CS to the Videographer is it's ability to creat images with a .9 aspect ratio. It has built in templates for both NTSC and PAL as well as wide screen and standard. The second major benefit comes to other Adobe editors. The Adobe products now allow you to jump from one program to another for image editing through the context menus of each program like Premiere Pro, After Effects or Encore.

Don't forget The GIMP. It's multi-platform FREE GNU Image Manipulation Software (Get it, G I M P?), and has MANY of the features of Photoshop. Win32 installer available at http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ & Mac OSX installer is at http://gimp-app.sourceforge.net/

While the GIMP is sometimes referred to as a PS clone, it does things somewhat differently, and can at times be confusing (especially when coming from Adobe's interface). Tutorials available at http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ will get you up and running with common tasks.

Did I mention that The GIMP is free?
