Depends on the quality that you want. For standard and acceptable work, most scanners will be "ok" but the software features of the scanning program vary greatly. For more accurate color you need to spend a bit more money. My wife uses an epson that was about a $600 scanner (several years ago) which does quite nicely. Very fast, very quiet, and she can select different areas of a preview and scan each one individually without rescanning the preview (unlike my HP which has to re-preview after every scan or partial scan). Her scanner is about to die I think, so we may looking soon, too. One other note...don't just look at "bit depth"...a 32 bit, 64 bit, etc. scanner is only as good as its capability to pick up different levels of color tones...bit depth doesn't mean squat if the tonal and contrast range stink. -Postal __________________________ PD-170, Dual athlon 2200+, 1gig ram,, Vegas, Combustion, Photoshop, dual monitor (ashamed of the video card, so I won't mention it), Samson wireless, and a couple of one-chippers (sony) just for the heck of it. - And an IRIVER
