Cut up the IRiver track Can't Post

I have one really really long track from my IRiver. I just want to capture 5 minutes in the middle of a 3 hour recording. I do not want to import the whole audio file into Avid. What, if any, are my free or cheap options to cut the track down?

Do you now the timecode that you need?

Why can't you just import it into Avid, export what you need, import it, and remove the original file?

HERE's a free MP3 editor I found on a google search. Haven't tried it, so I don't know how how well it works.

Do you have any audio editing software? I use Soundforge to open my mp3 iRiver files & extract the vows segment & save it as a wav before I import to Avid.

Nero 7 has a wave editor that can do the same thing.

Quote
annie, how 'bout an analog capture like what's done
with most of the minidiscs? Miniplug (1/8") cable from
the headphone-out of the iRiver to a mic-in on
your computer.

Agree with this process also....
