"No moving parts enables the most silent and reliable operation possible."

Now that's sweet, but how long would a 4 GB card last?

So when are we going to get this new toy.

Very sweet, but I think I'll hold out until next year. I'm real happy with my Busman R4 as it is.

That and I have to feed the little one now. Wink

This one has no built in hard drive.

But rather records to SDHC media cards. So it's also a smaller unit then the R4.

Looks pretty sweet. I might actually have to break down and get one of these puppies. Crazy

It can run separate phantom power and mic sensitivity settings to totally separate the four channels...no longer have to work in pairs....this is a big feature and something the R4 Pro had that my standard R4 doesn't. I got the price direct from Frank at Edirol...I/we here at VU were the first to get this price announcement....

Unlike the R-4, the R-44 has no LANC capability.

Best,

I can see where he LanC would be handy, but I have yet to use it on my R4. I noticed the price of the R4 at B&H has been drastically reduced.

The more I find out about this puppy, the more I'm pumped. Just found out they have successfully linked 3 of these together...that is 12 channels of individually recorded material! Live band capture is about to take on a whole new realm for our high-end clients. ...looks like I need to shop for some additional mics now :-)

Would each of the 12 channels be synced just as if it were
12 tracks going to a single hard drive?

Yes... In the Slave mode, one unit acts like the master clock. It appears that 3 units is about all they can sync up at this time as they get too much voltage drop. For our needs, I seriously doubt any one would need more than 12 channels. Most people here are happy with one or two Sly

Check out Frank George from Edirol talking about the R44...which should be out soon! Spoke with today and found out 16gb SDHC cards work with the recorder and they're testing 32 gb cards right now....

Nope won't work. Maybe because it's a private area on the WEVA site (which I don't belong to BTW).

Not a member with them either and the link didn't work. However ... just go to their site and then to the announcement of the product. It will take you to the QT movie.

Now ... what do I currently do that could justify this unit. I know I "want" one. Angelic
