Ron/others....

If your waiting to see if this device will keep perfect sync with your video...I'm willing to bet it won't. If you're wanting a device that will, be prepared to spend bucks... (although the sample clock in my Edirol R4 does a pretty good job...my marantz 670, for example, falls on its face after 15-20 minutes)

To get perfect sync, you must either slave the unit to the camera or be lucky enough (seriously doubt) that your camera(s) audio sampling clock and the recorder's clock run in perfect time of each other.... Sly

Some would argue that this sync issue is not a player if you run all your audio directly to the camera...and I agree (and would highly recommend so to newbies). However, this process will eventually hit a brick wall if you want to expand you audio fidelity/capability as current crop of cameras can only record up to 48 kHz/16 bit (and in the case of HDV, compressed audio)...whereas the H2 can record at 96 kHz/24 bit uncompressed (several orders of magnitude better).

I can't speak for the other NLEs, but I have found syncing audio on the timeline is such an easy process, that I simply don't get concerned over sync issues.

...then quit dropping them. LaughLaugh

Sounds like I'm a major klutz, but it's only happened 2-3 times out of maybe 75 weddings. It happened last week, but it was a Persian wedding, so they only said "I do" as far as vows. My camera up front probably picked that up fine.

I would think a better built system might have a buffer of some sort, similar to skip-protection on CD Walkman's.

It's not unique to iRivers, he MDs had/have that problem as well, in fact I believe they are much more susceptable to it and will fail with much less jarring during the critical finalizing period.

WTF are you doing to your iRivers?Tongue I just grabbed one of mine...started to record and just short of throwing it across the room--could not get it to duplicate your problem. Are you jarring the battery loose?
