Phantom Power & The Edirol R-09H Can't Post

I'm wanting to hook up two Crown PCC-160 mics to my R-09HR, but they are XLR and require phantom power. I came up with a solution that seems to work, but I want to make sure what I'm doing won't damage any of my hardware.

I have a Beachtek DXA-6VU which I use for my HV20. I'm connecting this to the line in on the R-09HR. This gives me 2 XLR chanels with phantom power. I turned off the AGC on the R09HR and I'm using the Beachtek to adjust the signal strength.

I'm sure this isn't the ideal approach, but I'm trying to make due with what I have. In the future I would like to get the R-44 or the Zoom H4n to do this.

Any problem with my approach?

Joe

Why do you say "it's not the ideal approach"? No reason you can't run
with this as your regular setup. I use a very similar setup as
my normal working arrangement.

Mainly because of the number of pieces involved. However since my original post I came up with a way to mount them so that it's a single component with no tape involved. Since it seems like it's going to work, this will probably become my regular setup.

Sounds like a good idea, I'll have to find me a bag and do the same thing.
