Stupid question.... 3.5mm mono vs. stereo. Can't Post

I'm going to be setting up 6 boundary mics that are terminated with 3.5mm (1/8th inch) mono plugs. I need extension cables for each. I found some good prices for 3.5mm STEREO cables. Can I still use these effectively (but using a 3.5mm mono to 1/4" mono(unbalanced) adapter at the mixer end? I'm thinking so, but wanted to confirm before I order 300 feet of cable.

Technology. It does wonders if you know how to use it.

And once again... how far can you run that 300 foot cable?
