So I only use the H2 for use with it's onboard mics and more moderate recording situations, like recording strings, horns etc. This is where the unit shines.

But for anything else I use my Zoom H4n, Marantz PMD620, or Edirol R44.

So in your case I you should be fine with the H4n and using it's "Line Out" to a wireless.

Thanks Michael. Sounds like a plan. I should know more by the end of this next week.

On a side note ... Did you see someone's making a wireless stereo
setup now? Azden maybe. I believe it's one transmitter and one
receiver. I think.

Scott a not on the H4n's 1/4 XLR inputs. For board feeds it's best if you use the 1/4 inputs as they are line balanced. The XLRs don't seem to be.
I was trying out the H4n the other day by simply taking feed from my boom boxes 1/8 headphone out, and split it to two XLR inputs. The H4n distorted pretty bad, while the R44 did not.
I had to pad the input before the H4n's inputs to correct. Also, from what I have head, the 1/8 input on the back of the H4n takes a board feed well, and is even quieter than the H4n's XLR inputs. I don't know why, and haven't tried it out myself to confirm, but many have said this.
