At $700 per unit I'd stand on the altar and put it in my pocket. Sly

I'm too lazy to look that thing up. Are you sure it's a "hard drive' in that thing? Sounds more like flash memory.

The Korg MR-1 does have a 20gb drive...been getting pretty reviews on the tapers forum....

It is definately high-end... 1 bit/2.8 mHz recording capability is truly something else and worth every penny...However, most people on here will object to anything more than the cost of an iRiver...

FYI...the record format this recorder uses is the delta-sigma modulation format developed for use with SACD (super audio compact disc). Basically it has 64 times the fidelity of a typical 16 bit 44.1 kHz recorder....

For just recording dialog though I'd have to agree. Laugh

I saw a pic of that thing... looks to large for a groom's pocket.

Re: [RT Steele] korg KOMRI recorder for wedding backup [In reply to] Can't Post

thank you rt and mark for your guidance. well, today i took the plunge and came home from sam ash music with my shiny new korg mr-1 20gb 1 bit thingey. my logic is that since i have been nuts enough to go out and buy 2 xl-2's with 20X and 3X zoom lenses, $700 tripods, $250 dollies, $600 frezzi on-camera lights, $68 polaroid filters, final cut pro, logic 7 pro, shake, motion, the vienna special edition, 3 250 gb external hard drives, a mac pro 2.66, 4 lapel mics, an aeg vocal mic, 5 lowel lights, 4 bescor ni-hydride battery belts, etc., etc., and made so far $100 for my troubles, now is not the time to falter on the path. fools rush in where angels fear to tread! i'll go for keeping the quality as high as i can afford to do. so be it. i ordered landen's beginner and advanced wedding video dvd's and that cleans me out for a while. now, back to work learning how to handle my new toy.

Please report back how well the Korg M-1 works. My only reservation (and I had the same thing with my M-Audio Microtrack), is the internal battery

Definitely sounds intriging.

Here's a first hand review of the MR-1.

Sounds like it would be an absolutely fantastic recorder for live recording. As the reviewer was simply blown away with the audio clarity.

But at $700 this little baby would be way overkill for just capturing vocal readings and most users here.

Cameras: I do use them.
Audio: Yes, it does come with audio if you like.
Software: I am learning...
Support: I need all that i can get.
Computer: MAC BABY!

mark, so far so good. the sound quality seems to be consistently high. the tech support so far is a mess, since accessing anything and downloading anything leads from one blind alley to another. i guess they still are working things out. the tech man said there are problems with macs that still need to be ironed out. but after the tech man gave me plenty of time to work it through, now i am not finding any problems at the moment. for my purposes, six hours of recording time with the battery is plenty. you can always stop a moment and use the usb cable to move your data to the computer. cd quality is plenty for me so far, since cd quality with this box sounds much better than cd quality heretofore. sometime in the future i'll look into the supersonic options. so far i am not regretting having this thing, though i certainly am not any kind of authority to make sophistocated judgments. that is your department.
