I was just wondering if any one has had problems, or recurring problems with the Xl1??
Because my Father wants to purchase one.

No reports on any specific or chronic problems with the XL1. The first batch to ship 3+ years ago had some issues, but they were corrected under warranty and on the production line. Note that some folks do not like the way the standard lens performs, mainly folks who are acclimated to fully manual lenses. Folks who are used to consumer type camcorders generally do not have problems with it.
