Re: Audio problems

Can't Post

: I have an XL1 and GL1 and I am using a Sennheiser MKE 300 mic. I can't get good audio. The Canon tech said that the Sennheiser is only 200 Ohms and the Canons need 600 Ohms. He said that I would need an Impedence Matching Transformer. I am looking for more information. Does anyone have this problem? Will this transformer solve my problem? I would be surprised if a transformer alone solves the problem. In general, if the load impedance (600) is equal to to greater than the source (200) you should be OK. Ther may be other factors in play. Is it a problem on both the XL1 and GL1? How are you connecting the MKE300 (mono or stereo adapter)? What are your audio settings; e.g., MIC, MIC ATT, AGC, manual gain, etc.? In what way is the sound 'not good'? What kind of sound are you recording (rock band, school concert, wedding from that back of the church, etc.? What is the mic placement relative to the talent? Does the MKE300 have a fresh battery?
