Canon XH-A1: Will it record 2-3-3-2 in 24f, in SD/DV mode? Can't Post

I'm renting an XH-A1 for this weekend's wedding, with the intention of see how I like the 24f. But, shooting in HDV is a little risky....since I can't re-capture the footage without the camera unless it's in DV. In SD mode, does it essentially record 2-3-3-3 24P DV?

Basically, I just want to be able to shoot 24P that I can re-capture with my cheapo Canon palmcorder if necessary. I can't edit HDV, so if I shot HDV, I'd be downconverting during capture anyways. Not to mention, if I can't capture with my palmcorder, I'll probably have to go buy another hard drive, since I'm out of space again. Mad

Thanks!

I just opened the A1 up and it has 2 options for 24f in SD... 2:3 or 2:3:3:2

To do it, press menu > Signal Setup > SD 16:9 > Frame Rate > 24F then return.
Then go down to Camera Setup > 24F Mode Sel > and choose your flava!

I think you'll love this camera once you use it. You'll get a definite itch to buy one someday be warned!

Technology. It does wonders if you know how to use it.

That's great, thanks for checking it out! My wedding isn't until Sunday, so I've got an extra day to test it out anyways. It'll be interesting to see if the 24f 2-3-3-2 will capture properly as 24P into Vegas using a cheap palmcorder.

After the rebate, the A1 is only $650 more than a PD170, pretty tempting. (Not that I have any money.Laugh) All of my hi-capacity Sony batteries are getting pretty old....maybe it's a good time to make the switch to Canon.

Anyone want to buy a POS Mazda 626? I think I'll just start renting cars for now on. LaughLaugh

I just thought about it....a new A1 cost $500 MORE than what I paid for my "new" car back in January. LaughLaughLaugh
