Canon XL1 & Premiere Pro: Out of sync audio Can't Post

I've spent all day trying to figure out what I can do to fix the a/v that is out of sync on my computer. I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and shoot video on a Canon XL1. I am aware of the problems with the audio being recorded at a different Khz, but haven't been able to find a solution on how to fix this. Does anybody know of ways to fix this or what actions I can take to prevent this? Thanks

Ok, don't ask me how I know this :) Start->Run->regedit

go to /HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Adobe/Premiere Pro/2.0

add new key, call it "override" without the quotes

Add DWORD value called "ForceDVNTSCTimeBase" and set it to 1.

Restart Premiere.

Let me know how that works out for you.

Hey thanks for the advice, unfortinatly for me that didn't work. The audio is still not syncing up any other ideas from anybody else or did anybody get the registry editor to work. Thanks for your help.

Sorry to hear it didn't work. Make sure you delete your audio conform files after the registry modification, or the mod won't do any good unless you start a new project.

If that doesn't work, right-click the media in the project window, interpret footage, and set "assume this framerate" to 29.964. Let me know :)

I actually had the same problem last year and the registry edit didn't work for me either. In quite a few forums people were recommending using Scenalyzer to do the captures and I finally did it. Worked like a charm, definitely worth the $.

The other way you could do it if you're really desperate and don't want to fork out the money is to do an analog capture of the audio and then resync it to the video.

Here's a link to the program:

http://www.scenalyzer.com/

I use it for all my captures now rather than the built-in vidcap in Premiere, not just the ones that come from my XL1, because it automatically detects the end of footage and stops the capture. Premiere kept on capturing past the end of the tape even so if I forgot a tape was capturing I ended up with a bunch of empty footage at the end of a capture and it ate up my harddisc space like crazy!

I use a Canon XL1S and I used to edit on Premiere Pro before switching to Edius Pro 3.
But I can attest to Scenalyzer Live's great utilities, robustness, and ease of use.

It's only like $40 and does a brilliant job capturing dual audio channels that the XL1 can do. It writes the second audio channel to a separate wav file if you'd like. It's great. you should totally try it.

The demo is a fully functional 30-day trial but it drops a watermark on the footage every few seconds.

Good luck!
Cheers!
