First thing to do is get a tape head cleaing cassette. Only buy one with a recognized Camera manufacturers name on it. Second thing to do is only use one brand and type of tape in the camera. Chemical formulas for tapes differ significantly from brand to brand and type to type. Residues from tapes stay on the heads. diffrent reisdues can combine to form a "gum" that blocks the ability to read video/audio information on a tape. If tape head cleaning fails, then you may have an alignment or transport related problem. Repairs of this nature can only be done by an authorized Canon factory repair center. A visit to Canon's website will provide you with the address of your nearest repair center. Follow instructions precisely. Also do a search in this and the wedding forum on this site for Canon Repair. G5 1.8. Final Cut/QT Pro/iMovie/Still Life. GL1. XL1-s
