: I also like the lcd display, of the VX2000. The interchangeable lenses for the XL-1 might be beyond my budget, so I'm not sure where the advantages would be. XV2000 is newer and lower cost, XL1 will probbaly be replaced in the Canon line later this year. VX2000 does better in low light, a bit sharper picture, has the Sony cast toward blue. VX2000 audio has a high noise floor, especially in manual level control mode. But it is a major improvement over the VX1000 in many ways. The XL1 has better controls, better lens options, longer lens reach, better audio, and some like its warmer picture. Both can do a good job in the hands of a competent user. You really shour try both in a side-by-side shoot to see which you prefer to use.
