Consideration, VX-2000 or XL-1 Can't Post

Hi, everyone,
I'm about to buy a DV camera for semi-professional use. My budget brings up the choice (I think) between the VX 2000 and the good old Canon XL-1. I've worked with VX 1000's a lot, and a little with the XL-1. I've had little experience with the VX-2000, but know it's features.
I like the XL-1, and it's image quality seems a little less noisy in certain situations than the VX1000. I would think since the VX2000 is basically a lot newer technology, that the quality of the CCD's might supersede those of the XL-1.
I also like the lcd display, of the VX2000. The interchangeable lenses for the XL-1 might be beyond my budget, so I'm not sure where the advantages would be.
If anyone could elaborate on this, it would be highly appreciated.
TIA
Barend

XV2000 is newer and lower cost, XL1 will probbaly be replaced in the Canon line later this year.
VX2000 does better in low light, a bit sharper picture, has the Sony cast toward blue. VX2000 audio has a high noise floor, especially in manual level control mode. But it is a major improvement over the VX1000 in many ways.
The XL1 has better controls, better lens options, longer lens reach, better audio, and some like its warmer picture.
Both can do a good job in the hands of a competent user. You really shour try both in a side-by-side shoot to see which you prefer to use.

You really should try both cams if at all possible.
There are many things to like on VX2000. It is also less intrusive which can be a problem at times.
If you want to read more about the XL-1 check http://www.dvinfo.net and go to the Watchdog pages.
