Converting DVD footage to MiniDV Can't Post

Is it possible to record a signal from a DVD player to footage on a MiniDv tape using a GL1? I know that it has an analog in input, but I can't manage to get the signal to go onto the tape.

Just a regular movie DVD. Could you tell me how I would go about doing this?

Are you talking about a Hollywood Studio Released DVD? Or are you talking about a Homemade DVD.
If you are talking about a Hollywood Studio Released DVD...than what you are asking is technically illegal to do. Your camera will not be able to record the video stream from the DVD player since it will detect the Macrovision Anti-Copy Signal from the DVD and not capture the picture.
If you are talking about a Homemade DVD...than your setup is wrong somewhere. It should be able to accept an analog signal and record to MiniDV tape without a problem. Try different RCA cables, check to see if your camera is in VTR mode, check the menu's to see if you have to set something there...

It is possible to record analog footage from a TV,VCR,DVD player etc. onto the GL-1. See page 76 of the user guide for the setup and details.
This will work only if the video material on the DVD is material that you or a friend/family member recorded. As indicated in one of the other posts, if it is from a commerical DVD or even VHS tape for that matter and it contains copy protection such as Macrovision you will not be able to record it.
