GL1 auto shut off Can't Post

Is there any button on the GL1 that you can press besides record that will reset the "auto shut off timer"? I do not want to needlessly record garbage just to keep the timer off.

Move it from standby to lock. Move back to standby when ready to resume recording. The auto shutoff is effective only when tape is in the camcorder and it is there to protect the heads and tape from excessive wear while sitting in pause. Excessive sitting in pause on one spot could damage the tape and crud up the heads.

I've not noticed a problem with anything like a couple of seconds of backup. But I have not conducted any detailed tests.
