HELP! capturing wioth XL1 Can't Post

I am trying to capture with my XL1 through my firewire right into my G4. the problem is that sounds cuts in and out and the video sometimes play SUPERFAST or SUPERSLOW with the sound remaining normal. I am using this stuff for web video that needs to be digitized and output to 240x180 size. Does anyone have any insight to this PLEASE!!! THANKS! Pete

Yeah! Try another firewire cable. It sounds like there is something wrong with it. Other then that it could be your hard drive. Is it fast enough for video capture?

Pete,
I do a bit of streaming web video using premier/XL1 to the same output size. This is what I do:
I capture on to the hard drive at full PAL(Australia)resolution. It obviosly chews up the space.
Edit etc at that res'
Make a digital master back to DV tape.
THEN I save the avi on to hard drive at the size/res I want.
I use Real Producer basic(the freebie) to convert it to .rm format & upload.
Try this, if it doesn't work, then, yes it could be your 1394.
regards
Andrew
