Home made Tally lamp Can't Post

Gday,
we have 2 XL1's, & a Videonics MXPRO video mixer which
we use to video our church services and other meetings.
The cameras have a tally lamp which operates(if desired) when the
camera is recording onto it's own DV tape.
We record the feed from the cameras onto a separate tape as a master
so the cameras are not using their own recording gear. This means the
tally light is off.
I'm wanting to make some form of light, attached to the cameras,
controlled by the director, that indicates to the camera operator that their
camera is "on air", rather than saying "you're on - you're off" via the headsets all the
time.
I'm guessing some sort of switch arrangement at the vision mixer that
can be activated by the director when he (I) switches cameras.
Any ideas at all??
Thanks,
be blessed & be a blessing.

I am looking to do the exact same thing in the same situation.

Any suggestions?
