Keeping timecode on a GL2 Can't Post

Hello...
Quick and maybe silly question, but here goes...
I record 30 minutes on a MiniDV. I rewind the tape so i can watch the footage and see if I need to rework some of the shots. I put the tape back in the GL2 and fast forward to the end of the previously recorder material. I want to start recording and maintain my original Time Code (TC). I can't get it do this.
Everytime, It starts the TC over and when capturing to my NLE, I get a bad video break.
does anyone know how I can get around this?
Thanks in advance!
Jesse Reich

Just be sure to start the recording over the last second or so of the previous material - DO NOT leave any gap in recorded video. If you do, the TC starts as if on a new unrecorded tape. THe way to do this is to leavea second or two of waste footage at the end of thescene if you are going to preview it. And use the REC SEARCH +/- buttons to position the heads on the beginning of the old material to be recorded over as appropriate.

So, did Don's trick work?
Just curious. Will be getting my GL2 next week, soaking up all the information I can until then:)

Karl,

I'll be trying the "trick" later this week. I've been super busy...
