Line In Can't Post

This weekend I was filming a jazz concert. I haven't had an opportunity to use the line-in on my A1s yet. I got a feed from the board, switched my XLR input to line-in, and got no levels. When I switched over to xlr mic, I got really high levels. Then back to line-in and absolutely nothing. I ended up switching on the attenuator then turning the levels way down to get a decent mic in sound, but it wasn't quite right. Any idea why I wouldn't get levels on the line input? Thanks!

If you were running the other XLR in mic mode, then that was your problem.
The A1 can either take input from both XLR inputs in mic or line mode. But it can't do both mic and line at the same time.

This is the biggest error in the A1's construction.
Maybe Canon will get it right with the upgrade to the A1, whenever that is.

I don't see where I could choose both line-in and mic. I only had 1 XRL running into the camera, had xlr turned on in the menu, and had the switch above the XLR input set to line-in.

When you were looking at your level meters, did it show that you were getting any signal at all?
Did you accidentally have the attenuator switched on while in "Line" mode?

I don't own an A1 and I know that there are switches on the XLR module for Mic/Line, but are there any settings or switches in the menu that you might have to switch to allow Mic or Line settings, or any internal pads?

Just trying to figure out where the problem might be.

The attenuator wasn't on and there was no levels at all. It was really strange.
