Lost the audio-capabilities!?!?! Can't Post

Hi all,
I got a really weird prob with my XL-1. I can't record audio anymore and I can't playback already recorded audio through the analog out. Already recorded audio does transfer throught the firewire. When recording I don't see anything on the level-meters. I checked all the audio-settings and there seems to be no prob, but there's no audio-input selected in the setting-menu (no selection possible). But.... it gets weirder. I had this prob about 2 months ago for 3 weeks or so (I don't use it daily) and all of a sudden, with no apparent reason, the audio worked again. But, 3 days ago, again for no apparent reason, the audio-section is down again... I don't get it... I hope someone can help me with this prob.
tia, SpikeX

It sounds like the audio switch has been changed. Either the REC LEVEL switch has been flipped down to Manual, and the volume controls are very low or the INPUT SELECT switch has been switched to Audio 1 instead of Mic. If you are in manual mode and the volume control is low you won't see any meter activity. You won't see options for selecting input if your INPUT SELECT is set for MIC so it sounds more like the REC LEVEL.
If all this looks right, then it could be a bad microphone. If you can, try to select AUDIO 1 and plug another audio source into the RCA jacks in the back. Make sure if you are using a tape deck or VCR for this test that you set the menu to LINE level instead of MIC.

Nope. Tried both options already. Switching the audio-options like REC LEVEL or INPUT SELECT doesn't make a difference. Neither does switching to another microphone or to a LINE-input... :-(
I can't get over the feeling that I'm missing some setting though. I'm wandering if there could be some sort of program-change which was transmitted through the firewire when I used it with my Pinnacle DV500 (using premiere 5.1 or the pinnacle DV-TOOLS)....
