No LCD for XL1S Can't Post

The XL1S doesn't have flip-out LCD Screen. I have noticed that on extended shoots, and looking through the viewfinder, I get headaches pretty frequently. I am seriously thinking about buying one of those Varizoom LCD's that slide in the hotshoe mount on top of the XL1S. This would cut down on squinting I think. But then there is no place to slide in my camera light! Any suggestions?

Is Varizoom the best to buy?

You can get adapters that screw into the tripod mount on the bottom of the camcorder or there are adapters that go on the hotshoe itself and allow more than one thing to be attached.

As for LCD monitors: For the most part no matter what you get it will only be very rough guide to color and lighting. If you carry the camera a lot, weight should be a big factor and is power. Back before any camcorders had flip out LCD's, I used a small (2.5" or so) Citizen camcorder monitor. I used a small 6 volt battery belt pack for it or it would run on six AA batteries. The small size was a plus and it was easy to fashion a permanent sunshade for it (a must for outdoor shooting). This place seems to stock three models of citizen and it looks like they come with sunshades:

Bob is pretty much right on...unless you want to shell ut the big bucks for a professional 700 line field monitor. Go to www.evsonline.com.

I used to get headaches with the older B/W viewfinders until i trained myself to work with both eyes open (stopped tripping over things, too). Try it. After one wedding, you will have figured out how and when to rely on your right or left eye.

The main reason I use my right eye all the time, is to make sure that the camera is in focus. I use the auto-focus until the bride gets up to the altar, and then zoom in for a close-up and switch to manual focus so that the lighting doesn't mess with the autofucs and have it go in/out of focus.
