Please recommend a camera for $1000....... Can't Post

I've got $1000 budget for a second dv camcorder. Can someone recommend one that will be good to complement an xl1 or dvx100a? I'd like to get something that will allow for quality sound recording.

best,
jerry

A 1,000 dollar camera to complement an XL1? I doubt you'd find one.

You can get the GL2 for less than 2 grand, like 1750 after Canon's rebate.

You would have to go with a one chip camera.

Hi Jerry,

Two other options that come to mind with your budget limits would be:

1) Buy a used Canon GL1 or GL2
2) Check-out some of the low-priced 3-CCD Panasonic cameras; here is one from B & H:
www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=365713&is=REG

Now, granted Canon's color tones lean on the reds and oranges, if you white balance both before recording, this Panasonic might be fine for you applications. Also, with regards to those Panasonic cameras, if you do a search online, you should be able to find some reviews on those guys and determine for yourself if this camera will work for you.

Take care,

John

I would say, a used Canon GL1 on ebay. I would check ebay around 4-6pm and do a search for a newly listed Canon GL1. I see alot of people sell them at a buy now price $1000-$1100.
Good luck
Canon XL1s,2xGL2 and Panasonic Gs120
