Sub zero filming Can't Post

Hello, glad I found this place, it looks like it will be very useful and a great place to visit.

My question(s); I will be filming in the arctic next month and will obviously be very cold.

What do I need to do differently? I know I will need to keep my batteries warm and probably need to take as many batteries as possible. Also, I know condensation might be a factor.

Anything else I should worry about or do in preparation?

I have a couple of GL's and an XL1.

Thanks in advance!

I read an article once about wrapping the camera in like a wool type blanket and keeping handwarmers in it for a heat source.... Make sure to give the camera enough time to aclimate before your shoot to get rid of the lens fog

You may want to possibly consider renting an HVX200 and shooting DV on a P2 card. Barry Green and panasonic took the HVX, as well as some pre production HPX500's to the Iditarod dog sled races in Alaska this year and they worked very well. you can shoot roughly 35 minutes of DV on an 8GB P2 card. the 16's would hold about an hour. Solid state media was made to perform in conditions that it is impossible to use tape in, extreme temperature being one of them. When you get back to a warm environment, like a heated tent etc, you can convert in camera from P2 to a tape, so really 2 16GB cards would totally do whatever you would need.
