Tapes made at post house won't playback on my XL1 Can't Post

Recently I have had some shots that started out out on 35mm motion picture film and telecined to DigiBeta transferred by my post house to Mini-DV tape. When I received the tapes I couldn't play them back. I got horizontal bars of the image. I had them do it again and again the same problem. The image clears up in fast forward mode.
checked the heads for clogging, no problem there. The camera is only 4 hours old and I can record and playback just fine. tapes stock is Sony in all cases.
It looks like a tracking problem but I can't find a tracking control on the XL1. Thanks.

It sounds like they recorded in DVCAM, not DV. Only a few decks are capable of recording DV (Panasonic DV2000 is one of them)

Problems have been reported for those capturing on the XL1 in LP mode and then playing back on DV players. If you plan to playback on any other device besides YOUR canon XL1 then always use SP mode.

I had exactly the same problem recording in one of my xl1 and playing back in another one, I think the head of the recording one was dirty, after I cleaned it, the problem solved, ( when I played back the casete in the same camera it was ok even before I cleaned the head)

: It looks like a tracking problem but I can't find a tracking control on the XL1. Thanks.

I just had the same problem with my GL1. I had some film transfered to miniDV and when I play it in my GL1, there's a lot of stripes with previous frames superimposed on the image. From reading the manual, this is what you'd get from dropouts in the tape. I sent the tape back to telecine house and they said they aren't seeing any problem. Tapes I record and play back don't have this problem. Could my GL1, which has only a few hours of operation on it be out of calibration?
