Unwanted frame-freezes over moving video Can't Post

Ever seen digital video playback which shows parts of the previous frame at the same time as the following frames are displayed? It's like a partial freeze-frame is working. I have experienced this frequently on the Sony VX1000, the Canon XL1 and the Sony GVD 900 (the digital player/recorder) I have recorded on each of the above and had the above described experience from all of them. Any ideas of the cause? The problem is so worrying I use the camera's for B roll only.

Sounds like the digital error correction at work. Its probably due to a drop out on the tape or some other condition that caused an error while reading the tape. If always at the same spot on the tape, there is probably a defect in the tape (or signal recorded on th tape). If it happens at different places each playing it may be some moving dirt on the tape or in the player.

Re: Unwanted frame-freezes - stabilizer? [In reply to] Can't Post

Could it be that you are attempting fast pans with the image stabilization on?
