VERYIMPORTANT: WHEN DID THE GL2 COME OUT? Can't Post

lately ive been having trouble wiht my gl2, roughly every 3 of 10 times i turn it on, the viewfinder is completely white and no menu options or anything show up inside it. when i turn it off and then back on the problem goes away.
im planning on sending it into canon to have it fixed, i bought it in december and its still under warranty.
unfortunately, i bought my camera from brridgeviewphoto.com , a fraudulent and now out of business online retailer. whats worse, ive lost my reciept and i needed one from them to give to canon as evidence of my proof of purchase.
i just spoke to canon and they said they would honor my camera without a receipt if the gl2 was introduced less than a year ago because then i would of course naturally still be under warranty... so now im trying to find out when they camera came out so that i can decide whether or not to send it in...
sorry for the lengthy note, help is appreciated.

Credit card purcahse? It might show up in those records.
The serial number can usually be determined from the mfgr. date, but sounds like it might be gray market, which could present a USA warranty problem.
The GL2 was announced in a Canon USA press release dated June 25, 2002, with an estimated availability at dealers in July 2002. YOu can find the release at the Canon web site
