VHS input into XM1 camera via Firewire? Can't Post

Dear All
Could someone please help me. I have a Canon XM1 and I need to record some VHS material on to it, so I can therefore capture the video via Firewire on my Mac.
Can this be done? Is there a SCART to Firewire (4pin) lead available to do this? Or do I need some special hardware? In the manual it say's that it might be possible, but then again it might not. Hopefully it is possible.
Has anyone done it in the past? If a lead is available, can you please name it and where can I get one. Thanks for your help
