VL-10 Misses Target? Can't Post

Considering the VL-10 light for my GL1 but have heard that it's sits high up on the cam and thus misses it's target quite often. Is this true?

Not a problem for us, though I had one lamp get cocked when the light was dropped. I just bent it back into place.

If you're concerned, I imagine you could tip the lamp down a bit.

LOL - Judging from the comments on using my VL10 the last time - it's right on target.

I was asked to film a group discussion under low light conditions. I told them about this issue (lo-lite) and that more lights are needed but they refused, saying it was part of their 'experience'. I told them that the finished video would be grainy looking because I'd have to pump up the gain despite the low aperture number setting I'd be using. They asked if I could just use a video light, a standard light to mount on the video camera. I did - the VL10.

After the shoot they wanted me NOT to use such a bright light anymore (I even filtered it down with a muslim sheet remnant) as it was very tough on the eyes. I informed them that they can't have it both ways.

The light works very well and pretty much points directly in their eyes. Can't beat that -

Gawd, I hope your XL1/GL2 wasn't attached to the hot shoe of the light (sic) when it dropped. Ouch.

gratefully, no...

Had that been the case, I'd probably still be in shock. Wink
